Ndebele women in front of traditional house in the North of South Africa

The Ndebele people from Northern South African and Southern Zimbabwe are very proud of their traditional artwork. Their artwork is a colourful explosion reflecting their individuality. They proudly paint their house in colourful geometric patterns. Coming through winding roads you will see from a long distance off their coloured houses.  The women are also famous for their intricate beadwork based upon these geometric patterns.

They delicately hand weave  these beads into bracelets, necklaces and belts. They also hand-make a variety of household accessories from beaded gourds, place mats, coasters and their famous dolls.

The families work together from the father, mother and grand mother to the children, all sitting, laughing and communing together. The are very proud of their handy crafts, for more appreciation of this work press here.
