Simon
and Alexandra with the Swazi animals (Piggs Peak) Winding down the lush green winding dirt road in Northern Swaziland we came upon an incredible vista. Perched on the edge overlooking a deep valley was a little hut. This hut was made of stones instead of walls and frolicking in front was a miniature heard of animals. We swerved over parked the car and as we got out we realised to our amusement that this little animals were wooden. |
I
young boy no more then six and his sister half his age were tending the
flock. We inquired and the boy told us to wait as he descended into the
valley. Minutes later up came his father and introduced himself as Simon
the sculpture of the animals. Simon hand-makes each and every lifelike
figure from cats, dogs, zebras, piglets, elephants and lions. He
tenderly imbues an almost whimsical and lifelike expression to each of
his animals. For
